In The Grey follows a covert team of elite operatives who live in the global shadows, as comfortable wielding power and influence as they are automatic weapons and high explosives. When a ruthless despot steals a billion-dollar fortune, the team is sent to steal it back on what would be for anyone else a suicide mission. What begins as an impossible heist gets much worse, spiraling into an all-out war of strategy, deception and survival.

It’s not a satisfying popcorn movie, but have some popcorn anyway. |

"In the Grey" isn't Ritchie's best work, but I was still satisfied. I hope he keeps releasing his efficient thrillers every six months! [Full review in Spanish]. |

Guns, forearms, and banter. What the hell else do you need? |

The story often gets lost in its own complexity, but the film remains consistently entertaining thanks to its energy, confidence and visual flair. |

| 63427 | Eric Goldman | IGN Movies | Rotten | 4/10 | 2026-05-15T21:57:42Z | 2026-05-15 21:57:42 | Filled with never-ending voice over and exposition, utterly vapid and personality-free characters, and dull action beats, In the Grey is a low point for director Guy Ritchie. |
| 63428 | Frank Scheck | The Hollywood Reporter | Fresh | — | 2026-05-15T21:49:59Z | 2026-05-15 21:49:59 | It all goes down easily, especially since the 98-minute film doesn’t smack of Ritchie’s usual bloat. On the other hand, the jagged continuity and glaring plot holes indicate that it may be as short as it is only because of extensive editing. |
| 63429 | Michael Cook | KLRT-TV | Rotten | 6.5/10 | 2026-05-15T21:06:44Z | 2026-05-15 21:06:44 | The first 45 minutes of this film you're just kinda lost, it's exposition after exposition. This movie is a misfire from Guy Ritchie who is usually a good action director. |
| 62157 | Marcelo Stiletano | La Nación (Argentina) | Rotten | 1/5 | 2026-05-15T20:32:40Z | 2026-05-15 20:32:40 | What unfolds here is a flat, basic, and unimaginative equivalent of an episode of Pretenders. [Full review in Spanish] |
| 62158 | Peter Travers | The Travers Take | Rotten | 2/4 | 2026-05-15T20:07:20Z | 2026-05-15 20:07:20 | A sexy, snappy Eiza Gonzáles steals the show from costars Jake Gyllenhaal and Henry Cavill, but this Guy Ritchie mission impossible is not that bad, just generically, disposably ordinary, a good way to kill time while nodding off on a flyover. |
| 62159 | Matt Zoller Seitz | RogerEbert.com | Fresh | 3.5/4 | 2026-05-15T19:50:23Z | 2026-05-15 19:50:23 | Ritchie and Steven Soderbergh might be the only major filmmakers left who share the belief that not only can entertainment be art, it has a better shot at being received as both if the makers don’t think in those terms. |
| 62160 | Benjamin Lee | Guardian | Fresh | 4/5 | 2026-05-15T19:27:53Z | 2026-05-15 19:27:53 | One of the season’s more pleasurable pieces of pulp. I fear for the day Ritchie will stop getting funding for his zippy and sleek yet commercially mishandled and criminally underseen larks. |
| 62161 | Mike DeAngelo | The Playlist | Fresh | C+ | 2026-05-15T19:24:25Z | 2026-05-15 19:24:25 | Ultimately, you get an acceptable thriller with some sharp lines, two leads you like, and far too much scaffolding for what arrives in return. Not a disaster, but no sign of peak Ritchie either. It is, in a way, fitting that it ends up in the grey. |
| 62162 | Avi Offer | NYC Movie Guru | Rotten | — | 2026-05-15T19:24:15Z | 2026-05-15 19:24:15 | A dull, by-the-numbers and increasingly preposterous crime thriller that's low on thrills, suspense and intrigue. It's a disappointing misfire despite the terrific ensemble cast. |
| 62163 | Sonny Bunch | The Bulwark | Fresh | 2.5/4 | 2026-05-15T19:06:52Z | 2026-05-15 19:06:52 | Ritchie has always been a somewhat vibes-based director. ... This is a movie of very carefully popped collars and rolled sleeves, of impeccable layering for combat in any clime. |
| 62164 | Brian Eggert | Deep Focus Review | Rotten | 2/4 | 2026-05-15T18:15:59Z | 2026-05-15 18:15:59 | In the Grey is neither good nor particularly bad. It’s one of those movies that exists in the obscure middle ground, where you can see the possibilities for something better, but it never quite achieves its potential. |
| 62165 | Glenn Kenny | New York Times | Fresh | — | 2026-05-15T17:29:53Z | 2026-05-15 17:29:53 | Cavill and Gyllenhaal never utter words to that effect — as it happens, a substantial amount of their dialogue is just quasi-homoerotic teasing — but when they pull off one extraction coup after another, you can see the satisfaction in their eyes. |
| 62166 | Robert Brian Taylor | Collider | Rotten | 4/10 | 2026-05-15T16:58:49Z | 2026-05-15 16:58:49 | I'm never one to complain about a 98-minute action movie, but, in the end, In the Grey feels rushed. |
| 62079 | Julian Roman | MovieWeb | Fresh | 2.5/5 | 2026-05-15T16:04:05Z | 2026-05-15 16:04:05 | Eiza González, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Henry Cavill save a stylish but formulaic action romp. Guy Ritchie's In the Grey has little substance in a by-the-numbers bullet barrage with constant voice-over narration. |
| 62080 | Josh Bate | Screen Rant | Fresh | 7/10 | 2026-05-15T14:03:53Z | 2026-05-15 14:03:53 | With particular attention paid to character dynamics, Guy Ritchie returns to what he does best. |
